Why Female DJs like me are here to stay

female-djIn what used to be a pretty male-dominated industry, there are more and more girls diving headfirst into the EDM and DJ world – and I would know, as I’m right on the front lines!

I’ve always had a bit of a passion for pumping out my own beats, remixing red-hot tracks, and just entertaining people at every opportunity, so was a natural fit that I would follow and pursue my DJ passion.

Along the way, I bumped into just about as much prejudice and sexism as you’ll find in the DJ world (after all, for whatever reason girls just weren’t seen as equals in those early days), but there’s definitely a change and shift in the culture happening right now.

If you are a girl and absolutely love everything that DJing has to offer, follow that passion, embrace the challenge, and do whatever you can to become successful with the right tools and technology in your corner!

Girl DJs are becoming incredibly popular today

As mentioned above, it doesn’t take too much of a search online to find a tremendous amount of female DJs operating globally today – many of them pumping out some of the hottest tracks in the world!

Every single day, female DJs are getting major airplay time on the radio, getting hired forced huge gigs a at festivals, parties, and major events and we are all inspiring future generations of female DJs to get out and follow their dreams!

You just need to make sure that you have the right tools and technologies behind you to make your music stand out more than anything else

But to make sure that you are really able to push your dream just as far as possible, you’re going to need to make sure that your tools and technology are at least on par (if not even better than) the same solutions used by this male-dominated industry.

Not only are you going to need to make the right choices when it comes to your DJ equipment, you’re mixing solutions, and your sound set up – but you’re going to need to make sure that you know how to get the most out of it to improve your skills and build your profile as a DJ – not just a female DJ.

The first thing that you need to invest in is high quality mixing software. This is the backbone of a DJs toolbox, and without it you are just going to be floundering around trying to find and create your sound. After that, you’ll want to invest in a DJ app or tool that helps you broaden your skills and build your sound profile.

Lastly, you’ll want to make sure that you are purchasing the right sound equipment – and though that is something that will come in time, as you can pretty much get away with less expensive options when just starting out.

Don’t forget that there are a number of open source DJ software solutions out there that are pretty high quality if you just don’t have the budget to float something more expensive. It might not be an ideal solution, but it will definitely give you the edge and advantage you need right off the bat to get started!

Best of luck!
