Hey guys, this is my first post of 2014 and welcome to my new blog! I hope the new design is looking good for you all 🙂 Anyway today I want to talk about how this year I’ve decided it’s about time I lost my extra weight. I know it’s easy to talk about these things but much harder to actually go through with it and make some significant progress. I’m determined for this to be different though, I mean for a start I have you guys to keep me accountable right?
How I plan to lose weight
First things first, I have to improve my diet. I am going to cut out all sugar, processed food and limit my intake of refined carbs and grains. My hope is that by keeping my blood sugar levels stable I should be able to be healthy and not store so much unnecessary fat. This isn’t obviously my idea, it is something which many people do. There is of course the Atkins diet and the Paleo diet where people tend to cut out a lot of carbs and of course sugar, and they both seem pretty effective at getting into shape.
The other thing I going to do is try and exercise five times per week and to do that I have purchased a very cheap but cute rowing machine. It is the Stamina Body Trac Glider 1050 and you can get it from Amazon for just over $100. I don’t expect it to be of professional quality BUT that isn’t important to me, I just want to get fit and by all accounts this machine is good enough for my needs. Also it’s around the same price as two months of a gym membership so I say it’s a bargain.
As a note there are many many different types of rowing machines out there, so if you have a bigger budget I’m sure you can get something nicer than mine which I hope will keep you motivated. Even though I bought a cheap model, I did read lots of rowing machine reviews first to find the best rowing machine. Well when I say “best” I mean best for me, everybody has different needs so just make sure to do some research first and get something you are happy with.
The reason I chose an indoor rower is because I am a pretty lazy person by nature, hence the extra weight! This combined with the fact my closest gym is a good half hour drive away made me search for something I could use at home. Now I didn’t want to buy a whole gym worth of different exercise machines, I don’t have the budget nor space for that. So after reading about how rowing machines offer a full body workout I decided this would be the best option for me.
Anyway guys I hope you found this post useful and I wish anybody else embarking on their own journey to lose weight all the best of luck!
